We are less than two weeks away from the premiere of the first Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Special. In total, there will be three episodes created by Russell T Davies, released every Friday from November 25th to December 9th.
With the return of the iconic writer and beloved former cast members, including David Tennant and Catherine Tate, the celebrations are guaranteed to be an emotional and exciting rollercoaster ride.
In the meantime, BBC iPlayer's new Whoniverse gives us time to revisit the sci-fi series and refresh our memories of the best adventures of the charming Time Lord.
If you can't physically watch all thirteen seasons of the modern era of Doctor Who, at least binge the five best of the best, as rated by IMDb. Here they are.
Vincent and the Doctor (S5E10)
9.3/10
This is a brilliant stand-alone episode. It dives deep into the subject of mental health issues and gives them a physical embodiment.
Matt Smith's Doctor and Karen Gillan's Amy Pond travel to 1890s France to meet Vincent van Gogh, who sees a monster invisible to other people. While the Doctor deals with the creature, Amy bonds with the painter in the hope of changing his future.
50th Anniversary Special The Day of the Doctor
9.3/10
The 50th anniversary special is a perfect way to get ready for the upcoming episodes.
The 77-minute episode follows Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor and Jenna Coleman's Clara Oswald, but also features heartwarming cameos from David Tennant, Billie Piper, John Hurt's War Doctor, Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor and more.
The special tells the story of what really happened to Gallifrey during the Time War between the Time Lords and the Daleks.
Silence in the Library (S4E8) & Forest of the Dead (S4E9)
9.3/10 & 9.4/10
These two emotional episodes are two parts of one story that introduced Alex Kingston's River Song and at the same time became the end of her arc in the series.
The story takes place in a planet-sized library in the 51st century, where David Tennant's Doctor can sense trillions of life forms that he cannot see or hear.
Heaven Sent (S9E11)
9.6/10
Peter Capaldi's acting, Steven Moffat's writing and Rachel Talalay's directing made this episode one of the best in the show's history.
The story follows the Twelfth Doctor as he is trapped in a water-locked castle by the Time Lords and pursued by a shrouded creature that tries to extract truths from him.
Blink (S3E10)
9.8/10
The best Doctor Who episode, as voted by IMDb users, is also one of the most terrifying. It introduces the race that will become one of the biggest and most recognizable villains in the Whoniverse for years to come - the Weeping Angels.
Trapped in the past, the Tenth Doctor tries to prevent the Weeping Angels from entering the TARDIS in 2007 with the help of a young woman to whom he gives various clues.
