Here are three most anticipated and talked about movies hitting theaters this Friday, October 10. Not surprisingly, two of the three are Christmas-themed.
The Marvels
Phase Five of the MCU continues with the debut of Nia DaCosta's The Marvels, the follow-up to 2019's Captain Marvel and 2022's Ms. Marvel.
Teyonah Parris is set to reprise her role as Monica Rambeau, aka Photon, the S.W.O.R.D. agent who gained her supernatural ability to absorb energy blasts when she entered Scarlet Witch's Hex in WandaVision.
While investigating a wormhole connected to the Kree planet, Monica discovers that every time she uses her powers, she switches places with her childhood hero Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) or a smart geek Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani).
But why is this happening? How are the superheroes connected? That's what the characters and audiences will find out in the film premiering Friday.
Journey to Bethlehem
As the holiday season approaches, the new musical from Affirm Films and Sony Pictures is a great way to kick it off.
It is a retelling of the classic story of the birth of Jesus with a lighter and more kid-friendly tone. The creators, who hope Journey to Bethlehem will become an annual classic, promise an enjoyable ride filled with humor and plenty of familiar and new Christmas songs and melodies.
The Holdovers
The second movie to get you in the holiday spirit this Friday is Alexander Payne's The Holdovers. Paul Giamatti plays a teacher at a prep school in the 1970s. The protagonist is not exactly a favorite among his colleagues and students, which lands him the job of supervising a group of students who can't go home for Christmas break.
Of course, supervising a handful of mischief-makers is no easy task. And the character's woes are compounded when he is forced to deal with a particularly naughty student who has just lost his father.
