With just over three months to go until the premiere of the first part of the long-awaited Bridgerton Season 3, fans are gearing up for a wave of promos for the love story of Penelope 'Pen' Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.
Everyone seems sure that we will get some kind of teaser trailer as early as February 14th, which is a very fitting date for the bodice-ripping series. In the meantime, fans can't stop going over every little detail of the previous seasons and theorizing about what might come next.
Peneloise Quarrel
The biggest thing bothering Bridgerton fans is the falling out between the show's best friends, Pen and Eloise, often referred to as Peneloise.
In the Season 2 finale, Eloise, who had been obsessed with Lady Whistledown's secret identity, found out that it was Penelope all along, and the discovery frustrated her. Lady Whistledown's column had caused quite a few scandals involving the Bridgerton family, such as the outing of Marina's pregnancy and Eloise and Theo's secret meetings. No wonder Eloise ended her friendship with Pen in a rage.
But is there a chance for the friends to reconcile in the new chapter? Heavens knows, the fans want that before Pen and Colin get together. Imagine how awkward their relationship would be if Colin's sister was against it.
Besides, Penelope deserves to be heard and forgiven by Eloise. Unlike viewers, the fifth Bridgerton never got to see Pen's perspective on everything that happened in Seasons 1 and 2.
We know that many of the questionable things Pen wrote in the Lady Whistledown column were for a good, or at least understandable, reason. And if Eloise knew that, too, she might reconsider holding a grudge against Pen.
New Friend
One of the fan theories about Bridgerton Season 3 shows how exactly Eloise could start seeing things from Pen's point of view. And it makes a lot of sense.
The official synopsis for the season says that Eloise will find ‘a new friend in a very unlikely place.’ And one of the new stills hints at where and who exactly that might be.
The first-look Peneloise image, shared by EW, shows the former best friends talking at the modiste. In the picture, Eloise looks frustrated and defensive, so it seems unlikely that the girls are repairing their friendship on the spot. But it was 'where they meet' that made fans think of Madame Delacroix.
Fans theorized that Genevieve Delacroix, the modiste of the ton, would become this Eloise's unlikely new friend, and since she is already an ally of Penelope and her gossip-writing business, she could be the key figure in helping Peneloise make up.
After all, Genevieve is the only character who learned of Pen's secret identity before Eloise, and she witnessed firsthand how hard it was for the writer to make the decision to out her friend in order to save her from the Queen's wrath.
Also, as a lower class working woman, she understands the struggles Pen goes through with her broke family and their precarious position in the ton. So when she and Eloise have a frank conversation, she will be able to explain to her why Pen did what she did, which has to change Eloise's mind. Right?
Bridgerton Season 3 will arrive on Netflix in two four-episode batches on May 16 and June 13.
