5 MCU Duos That Should Have Gotten More Screen Time, But Sadly Never Will

We are not even close to being done with the original Avengers.

When Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani recently shared her thoughts on how to reignite audience interest in the MCU, she made an important suggestion.

'[Marvel] established so many wonderful characters in the last phase of the MCU that it would be nice to see them all again and see them team up,' she told The Direct.

And that is a spot-on observation about the kind of love audiences have for the MCU, or any franchise for that matter. Superhero adventures are great, but people are sold on the on-screen chemistry between the characters, whether it be a friendship or a love story.

The history of the original Avengers proves that creating an electrifying dynamic between the characters is a key to our hearts. How much time did we spend drooling over the bromance between Captain America and Bucky Barnes?

But even in the early stages, there wasn't enough screen time for all the duos we wanted to explore. And sadly, Endgame made sure that at least five of those interactions will never happen.

1. Tony Stark & Vision

Since Vision is essentially Jarvis and has been at Tony's side for decades, it seems odd that aside from a brief interaction in Civil War, they never had a real conversation, let alone a heartfelt talk that we would have loved to witness.

Sadly, now that Tony is dead and Vision is undergoing his own rebirth, that conversation will remain a dream that will never come true.

2. Winter Soldier & Black Widow

In the comics, there was something of a love triangle between Natasha Romanoff, Bucky Barnes and Clint Barton. The MCU creators went the Bruce Banner route for Natasha instead, which was quite short-lived.

Now, we know that not every female character needs a love arc, but a steamy Winter Soldier & Black Widow spy thriller could be exciting, right? Unfortunately, Nat gave her life for the Soul Stone and such a project will never see the screen.

3. Iron Man & Rocket

These two are both genius engineers and comedic characters with tragic backstories. So going into Infinity War/Endgame, we expected a lot of hilarious interactions between them. However, all we got was a couple of back and forth punchlines. While these bits were pure comedy gold, they only whet our appetite for more.

4. Bucky Barnes & Tony Stark

It seems that Tony was killed off too soon. There are a lot of interactions we would have liked to see if he was still around.

Both Sebastian Stan and Robert Downey Jr. smolder with their co-stars, both female and male. So we would definitely like to see more of them together on screen. Especially since Bucky never had a chance to make amends with Tony after Civil War.

5. Spider-Man & Captain America

When you think about it, Peter Parker and Steve Rogers are very similar. Both are underdogs from New York who became heroes in unlikely ways, but seem to have been born for the role thanks to their noble hearts.

So we wish we could see a mentor-like relationship between them, like the one Peter had with Tony.
