The solo project for the fan-favorite characters is rumored. But there's a twist.

Since WandaVision landed on Disney+ in 2021, it has become many fans' favorite MCU show, warming audiences to the character of Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, who had previously been on the sidelines of the superhero franchise.

So when Wanda, aka the Scarlet Witch, became the main antagonist of 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and then killed herself to save the multiverse in an impressive redemption move, many viewers thought the character deserved better.

After all, Wanda has had the most tragic arc of them all, losing people she has loved since childhood. It seems unfair to deprive her of the opportunity to reunite with Vision and her sons from Westview.

That's why many fans think this can't be the end for the powerful witch, and we'll see her in future MCU projects. While Elizabeth Olsen remains mum on the possibility of donning the red cape and crown again, let's take a look at five movies and shows that would be perfect for Scarlet Witch's comeback.

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries

Expected Release: Fall 2024

The most obvious project for Wanda's return is the WandaVision spinoff, which centers on another fan favorite, nosy neighbor and secret antagonist Agatha, and her attempts to break out of her confinement in Westview, which was imposed on her by the Scarlet Witch.

While Olsen has said in several interviews that she will not appear in Darkhold Diaries, there have been some hints from the cast to the contrary.

Vision Quest

Expected Release: 2024-25

If Wanda doesn't return in Darkhold Diaries, there is another WandaVision spinoff that will require her presence. Judging by the title, Vision Quest is expected to focus on the arc of Paul Bettany's Vision after the parent series.

The original Vision was killed by Thanos, but S.W.O.R.D. rebuilt him. And this new version, called White Vision, has set out to unlock the memories hidden in his subconscious. Once he does, there's no doubt he'll want to reunite with the love of his life, and it would be too heartbreaking if she wasn't revived by then.

Doctor Strange 3

Expected Release: 2026

Since Wanda was last seen in the Doctor Strange franchise, it is natural to assume that she might reprise her role in the third installment, which has not yet been officially announced, but is rumored to be part of the Multiverse Saga. The nature of her powers makes Scarlet Witch a perfect addition to the magic-based movie.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty & Secret Wars

Expected Release: May 1, 2026 & May 7, 2027

The two-part conclusion to the Multiverse Saga promises to be a real cameo-fest, with dozens of heroes old and new and their variants from parallel timelines appearing on screen. It makes the comeback of Scarlet Witch (or her variant) in at least one scene highly likely.

Scarlet Witch Solo Movie

Expected Release: TBA

Earlier this year, several notable MCU insiders reported that a Scarlet Witch solo project based on the 2015-2016 comic book run was in the works at Marvel. While the film is rumored to revolve around Wanda's son Billy aka Wiccan, who is set to be played by Heartstopper's Joe Locke and make his live-action debut in Darkhold Diaries, the insiders point out that Scarlet Witch will also appear in the project as a supporting character.

That doesn't sound fair to the fan-favorite superhero, but hey, at least it means she hasn't left the MCU for good, right?
