The Marvels that is currently playing in theaters has a number of moments that have left viewers in awe. But probably the biggest surprise that sent many fans into a frenzy is the movie's post-credits scene.

You see, it teases the impending introduction of one of Marvel's most popular superhero teams, the X-Men, into the MCU.

What happens in the post-credits scene?

The ending of The Marvels is bittersweet and fascinating. As always, the superheroes manage to save Earth and the entire solar system. But this results in Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) being stranded in a parallel reality that turns out to be not just any universe.

Monica wakes up in a hospital bed and sees her late mother Maria portrayed by Lashana Lynch sitting next to her. However, Maria doesn't recognize her daughter and is shocked by Monica's show of affection.

Everything is soon explained when a familiar, large blue figure with a deep, low voice enters a room. The figure turns out to be Dr. Hank McCoy, aka the Beast. And he is played by none other than Kelsey Grammer (of Frasier fame), who previously portrayed McCoy in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The Beast explains that Monica has jumped from one reality to another and leaves to give a report to Professor X, but not before introducing Maria as the cosmic hero Binary and showing off a classic Beast comic costume and a legendary sliding door with an X on it while two X-Men movie themes play in the background.

Why is this scene important?

Ever since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, Marvel fans have been waiting for the MCU to introduce the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

The presence of mutants has been slowly established with the cameo of Patrick Stewart's Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the reveal of Namor and Ms. Marvel's nature, the appearance of El Aguila and Mr. Immortal in She-Hulk, and, of course, Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

But fans want a full action movie featuring the entire X-Men team. And now, thanks to The Marvel's post-credits scene, we know exactly how the studio is building that.

All the details in the scene indicate that Monica has entered Fox's X-Men universe, created by Wolverine's actions in Days of Future Past. And now the X-Men will likely want to help her get back, which could lead to the two worlds colliding.

We don't know which of Fox's original cast will return for the new movie, but Days of Future Past made sure that all of the beloved characters are alive and well in the new universe, which opens up many exciting possibilities for the future.
