First For Rewatch: Top 5 IMDb-Rated Doctor Who Episodes Starring David Tennant
The Tenth had a lot of relationship-related shenanigans.
We know, we know, dear Whovians. Saturday, along with the premiere of The Star Beast, the first of three Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, can't come any slower.
If you feel like your Doctor Who craving has reached the 'can't stand it anymore' level today, why not scratch that itch by revisiting some old episodes starring David Tennant?
Back when the fan-adored actor played the Tenth Doctor in Seasons 2 through 4, the show aired some of its best episodes, by general consensus. Here are the top five, as rated by IMDb users.
5. S2E13 Doomsday
IMDb Rating: 9.2/10
The finale of the second season continues the story set in the episode Army of Ghosts, which you have to watch first. Not only does it mark the first conflict between the Daleks and the Cybermen, it also delivers one of the most emotional and tear-jerking scenes in the entire series: the Doctor and Rose saying goodbye on a beach.
It is truly one of those episodes that stay with viewers for years.
4. S4E13 Journey's End
IMDb Rating: 9.2/10
This is again the second episode of a two-part season finale, preceded by The Stolen Earth. The story revolves around the threat of the universe-destroying Reality Bomb created by Davros, who was given a major makeover in the recent Children In Need special.
On the emotional side of things, the episode features the return of Rose, and wraps up her romantic arc in a nice (albeit heartbreaking for the Doctor) way. On top of that, the story marks the last regular appearances of each of the Tenth's companions, including Catherine Tate's Donna Noble, and is kind of crucial to watch before the upcoming specials.
3. S2E4 The Girl in the Fireplace
IMDb Rating: 9.2/10
The dazzling and highly creative story of the 51st-century androids trying to steal the brain of Madame de Pompadour through a time window is highlighted by brilliant acting and a surprising connection between the Time Lord and the 18th-century socialite, tugging at your heartstrings.
2. S4E8 Silence in the Library & S4E9 Forest of the Dead
IMDb Rating: 9.3/10 & 9.4/10
Another two-parter introducing one of the Doctor's main love interests, his wife River Song. Tennant's Doctor is quite the ladies' man, isn't he? Well, to be fair, he and River are not yet a thing in these episodes. Only she knows who the Doctor is, for him it is the first meeting, which sadly becomes the end of River's arc.
The story takes place in a planet-sized library of the future, where strange things happen.
1. S3E10 Blink
IMDb Rating: 9.8/10
The all-time favorite episode of most fans is the one that introduced the Weeping Angels to the Whoniverse. We guess people got tired of the Daleks and the Cybermen, huh?
Well, the story is not only good because of the new antagonists. It takes the viewer on a thrilling ride into Steven Moffat's imaginative, mysterious, intriguing world filled with behind-the-couch scares. Remember to blink when you rewatch the episode.
