Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Pivots to a Netflix-Style Reboot
Marvel Studios has officially made the Netflix series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders part of Marvel Cinematic Universe canon.
The creative team behind Daredevil: Born Again is shifting the series back to alleyways and backrooms after early episodes leaned hard into City Hall. Storylines built around Wilson Fisk’s run as mayor and an Anti‑Vigilante Task Force are being dialed down as the show leans into grit, crime families and personal stakes across New York neighborhoods.
Showrunner Dario Scardapane says the goal is less political chess and more bruised‑knuckles storytelling grounded in the characters’ lives.
“So yeah, it was fun to play in the realm of politics but I like something a little more street level, personally.”
He added that while the political angle had its moments, it risked pulling the series away from its comic‑book core.
“Okay, that’s fun too, but as it becomes almost too topical, it feels like it’s going away from the large, mythological genre stuff.”
Back to the streets
The pivot lines up with Marvel’s broader TV rethink: instead of hard‑rebooting the Netflix era, the studio has been threading those stories directly into its current timeline and treating the new runs as sequels set firmly in the same concrete jungle.
That approach accelerated after Disney folded the old Marvel‑Netflix catalog onto Disney+ in 2022, where it sits under the Defenders Saga banner and feeds into today’s series.
