Mike Flanagan and Netflix have proven to be a power couple, with new horror miniseries premiering almost every Halloween season and garnering positive reviews, high ratings and love from viewers.

This year was no exception, and the filmmaker, who writes, directs and produces all of his projects, released a new masterpiece of the genre, The Fall of the House of Usher, based on the works of the legend of horror writing Edgar Allan Poe, which quickly rose to the top of both Netflix's and Flanagan's lists.

The show revolves around eight terminally ill teenagers who live in an old Victorian mansion hospice. They support each other by gathering every night to listen to scary stories and try to find proof that life after death is real. At the same time, the protagonist explores the grounds of the hospice, hoping to find an unconventional cure that will bring her back to health.

The protagonist is an ex-convict who returns to his hometown after four years in prison and tries to rebuild his life. But the hometown quickly ceases to be what he remembers, as a new charismatic, mysterious pastor takes over the isolated community and unexplained and seemingly miraculous events begin to occur.

3. The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)

A young au pair with a troubled past is hired to teach and care for two orphaned siblings in a remote mansion where only three other people work. She soon discovers that all the residents of Bly Manor, and the estate itself, have many dark secrets.

The new Flanagan miniseries comes in at number two according to critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The show tells the story of a wealthy, dysfunctional family that owns a scandalous pharmaceutical company. As the six children of the head of the household and corporation, Frederick Usher, begin to die one by one, the story of the rise and fall of his empire is being told.

This is Flanagan's first series created for Netflix. And for the majority of viewers, it remains the best.

The bone-chilling supernatural drama follows a husband and wife who buy an old mansion to renovate. They move in with their five children and soon discover that it is not just an old house. There are secrets and ghosts living under its roof.
