The nasty family reunion at the center of Evil Dead Burn was staged a world away from its American setting. The sixth film in the franchise shot entirely in New Zealand, splitting time between soundstages and natural locations to build out the movie’s isolated estate and its blood-soaked set pieces.
Filming ran July–October 2025 across New Zealand.
Most of the carnage plays out inside a single house, recreated on New Zealand stages and engineered to handle the series’ trademark chaos. The production designed the interiors to keep the action tight and oppressive, turning each hallway, crawlspace, attic and basement into another trap for Alice (Souheila Yacoub) and her in-laws.
There’s a wink for longtime fans outside that house, too: the exterior look deliberately echoes Ruby’s home from Ash vs Evil Dead—another New Zealand–made chapter of the saga—so sharp-eyed viewers may feel a jolt of recognition between the splatter.

New Zealand, the secret home
The franchise has quietly made New Zealand its base in recent years. Evil Dead Rise used the country to double for a Los Angeles apartment building, while Ash vs Evil Dead filmed its demon mayhem there throughout its run. That’s a sharp pivot from the original 1981 movie, which famously froze through its Tennessee shoot, but it’s become a reliable backdrop for the modern entries to play “America” on screen.
