Created by Megan Park — who wrote and directed My Old Ass — the series is set in Muskoka, the Ontario lake region that functions as Toronto's summer escape, and follows Annie, Ramona and the rest of a group navigating a season there.
Who's behind it
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage serve as co-showrunners and executive producers, which tells you roughly everything about the DNA on offer. Between them they built The O.C., Gossip Girl and Nancy Drew. Amazon MGM Studios produces with Schwartz and Savage's Fake Empire and LuckyChap, with Tom Ackerley and Dani Gorin executive producing for the latter.
Park said in a statement that watching audiences respond to a show the team worked hard to make authentic has been thrilling, and that she can't wait to get back to Muskoka.
Schwartz and Savage doing a teen ensemble on a lake, with LuckyChap money and a My Old Ass filmmaker running it, was always going to land somewhere. Two weeks to renewal suggests it landed hard.
Park has teased possible directions for the second season in interviews. No production start or release window announced yet.
