5 Great TV Shows That Ended But No One Noticed

Who knows, maybe your favorite is on this list and it is time to finish it.

In this age of endless content, it's easy to forget what you watched last month, let alone last year or the year before that. Streaming culture has made the gaps between seasons longer and the libraries of titles larger.

So even if you enjoyed a show in the past, there is no guarantee that you will return to it in the future. As a result, more than a few shows get canceled and end without much fanfare on social media or in fan discussions.

Here are five shows that ended, but for one reason or another, no one seemed to care. Let's see how many of them you started watching and made it to the finale.

Disenchantment (2018-2023)

Network: Netflix

Matt Groening's animated sitcom about a rebellious, alcoholic, medieval princess and her elf companion received fairly positive reviews from critics and viewers, but when the final 10 episodes landed on Netflix last September, people barely noticed.

This was probably due to the fact that Netflix's One Piece had premiered just a few days earlier and had become a huge hit. Also, Futurama returned to Hulu in the summer and people talked about it for weeks, forgetting about Disenchantment.

Orange Is the New Black (2013-2019)

Network: Netflix

You've probably watched at least a few early seasons of Piper Chapman's story, set in a women's prison. But did you know that the show ran for seven years?

It became one of Netflix's longest-running original series, but the longer it ran, the fewer viewers came back, likely due to the departure of key cast members. So compared to how popular it was at one point, the show kind of just evaporated in the end.

Once Upon a Time (2011-2018)

Network: ABC

The story of fairy tale characters living as your neighbors was at one point very popular with viewers. It got a huge dedicated fan base. But it seems that only the hardcore fans were able to find their way through the twists and turns of the overly complicated plot and the growing library of fairy tale creatures, and stuck with the show all the way to its final seventh season.

The majority of original viewers didn't even realize the show had ended until about two years after the finale aired.

The Great (2020-2023)

Network: Hulu

The satirical period drama about the rise of Catherine the Great of Russia was canceled by Hulu last year after just three seasons, much to the dismay of its fans. But the social media frenzy never happened.

While the show was comedy gold and only got better with each season, it apparently failed to garner enough ratings to continue. Well, we sure hope The Great becomes that sleeper hit and gets the sequel. There's still a ton of potential there.

Into the Badlands (2015-2019)

Network: AMC

The post-apocalyptic journey of a warrior and a teenager only lasted three seasons, but it seems like no one watched the last one.

While the show certainly gave us some of the best fight scenes on television, it got somewhat weird over time and lost viewers, leading to its cancellation and rushed ending.

It didn't help that the marketing campaigns for the show coincided with the promotions for The Walking Dead, which was still airing new episodes at the time.
