There are dozens of movies about male friendships. Take the Grown Ups film series, for example. Meanwhile, movies about girlfriend gangs are still rare. If you're looking for one to watch with your best friend this weekend, here are five titles that might interest you.
Sex and the City (2008, $419 million, 5.7 on IMDb)
It may sound corny, but this is an absolute classic of female friendship movies. In the big-screen sequel to the popular HBO series, Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte face new problems. Bradshaw marries Mr. Big. Miranda deals with Steve's affairs. Charlotte is pregnant. And Samantha is stuck in another meaningless relationship with a male model. But their friendship is as strong as ever.
Bad Moms (2016, $184 million, 6.2 on IMDb)
Led by Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn, this all-star adult comedy follows Amy, a thirtysomething mother of two who one day catches her husband cheating with a webcam model. Her seemingly perfect life is ruined, so she tries to change it. Amy goes to a bar where she meets two other moms who are nothing like her, and their exciting adventures begin.
Ocean's 8 (2018, $298 million, 6.3 on IMDb)
This star-studded heist comedy is the only female-centric film in the Ocean's franchise. Starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter, among others, the movie centers on Denny Ocean's sister, Debbie, who devises an elaborate plan to steal Cartier's most valuable pieces from an upcoming Met Gala ball. To help her, she assembles an all-female team of various professionals.
Bridesmaids (2011, $306 million, 6.8 on IMDb)
The Hangover is one of the most popular comedy franchises in the world. But it actually has an equally successful counterpart about women. Starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy, the movie follows Annie, whose personal life is in shambles, but who has to put on a good front for her best friend's wedding. But before the wedding, there has to be a bachelorette party, and it takes the characters on an exciting journey.
Pitch Perfect (2012, $115 million, 7.1 on IMDb)
This musical comedy tells the story of Beca Mitchell, a somewhat reclusive college student who joins an a cappella group of girls. As a team, they compete against another musical group from the same college to win Nationals. Along the way, they get to know each other better, become friends, and have conflicts that affect their final performance. The movie stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine and many other famous actors.
